I've got the front and rear frame mount points on the seat, and the little wire hoop that goes from the front mount to the sides, but it still flops around like crazy. I lost a seat on my old R at a race and ruined my trip. any advice. thinking of making some side mounts welded to the frame.

Ive had an idea for quick change rear plastic for a whilw now. Making stationary mounts on the frame and then make a stud that slides into the plastic and is held with a pin for quick removal much like the rear aftermarket latches for the seat.

Don't reinvent the wheel here, there are tons of aftermarket companies that make nice latches that are 100% secure.

Latches are good, but I race southern missouri rock farms lol. I've lost my rear seat a few times, bushings and all from the rear, wouldn't matter what kind of latch I had. I'm thinking a stationary mount for both heal gaurd areas on the plastic. it would make it more of a challenge to take the rear plastic off, but thats alright as long as it doesn't come off during the race.

Thats what im talking about, a quick pull pin design down by the where you heel is to help make the plastic more sturdy. Im not talking about where the seat is latched to the frame.

I made two braces that come off the grab bar mount holes that just add support to keep the rear of the plastics from flopping around. they work great

how do u loose a seat while riding? the seat is mounted to the rear plastics and if slid onto the front rubber pieces that r mounted to the frame and the pins r in the rear which also holds it to the frame then i dont see how this is poss? iv ridin on all types of terrain and aggressivly and never once had this come anywhere near close to happening

I posted a mod like this about 3-4 years ago using the rear fender brackets from a 450R, unfortunately it was basically ignored. The 450 brackets only work on 88-89 style rear grab bars, unless you want to add a mounting hole on your 86-87.

just get one of the many aftermarket seat bracket set ups. if i ever lost my seat it wouldn't matter because i'd be in no shape to ever ride again...
