prob a stupid question but in order to run long travel front shocks do u have to have certain a arms? i found a nice set of axis for a good deal but dont have the flow for new arms also

they might be able to be mounted--- but longer shocks are designed to work with a certain arm. to keep the ball joints and tie rod ends front binding. what length shocks did you find? im looking for 17.25" fronts

Yes. "Long Travel" shocks are designed to work with "long Travel" a-arms.

On long travel A-arms, the shock mounting point is located further out on the a-arm. As such, it requires a longer shock to reach out there, and also drastically changes the leverage ratio.

Now, the name "long travel" is kind of misleading, because you don't really gain any more wheel travel from a long travel setup. What you DO gain is that the change in shock mounting and the longer shock allows the valving on the shock to be much more precise. This allows the shock to work better over a wider range of weights and riding styles. Although you don't actually gain any wheel travel, a long travel setup will generally out-perform a standard-travel setup.

the guy said they r axis tripple rate w remote rezzies, eye to eye is 18 3/4 and they have a comp adjustment. says they r kinda squishy but who knows what his idea of squishy is?? he said he had them on standard travel a arms and did tt racing, hes parting it out cuz he has another R. u can find them on the kansas city craigs list his number is 816-809-8997 if anybody is interested

That dude is on crack if he thinks it ran those with Std. travle a-arms... and raced tt with it... you might be able to use a lowering kit with the lt shocks and std. a-arms but it kinda defeats the reason of having lt shocks...
