Well now ya got a good reason to buy a CRF450F engine and mod your frame a little and stick that engine in. There is always one good outta a broken quad..

I talked to Mark when I was watching practice in Loranger and he told me something happened with your motor and new mods, but he said all you needed was a new piston and a bore.

Nacs is right. Everytime mine needs a repair it gets faster....
Check ebay for a used engine. or service honda for a new one.

yea, brad, thats all it was. I just needed some rings but I guess I also needed a new rod. I wish i would have known that before I put it back together. I went down to cherokee yesterday evening and putted around for 10 minutes, (i was still breaking it in) then bam, it was over. Never even got to have any fun. I had to get towed back to my truck. Im probably goin to do the same thing you are doin with your R. tear it down to the frame and build it back up slowly but surely. I got about 6-700 for a new motor. Hopefully, i can get some money for the parts that are still good. Later, Ant.

WOW! Sorry to hear that ant. I read ur last post about everything breakin and I think it cursed ya. Good luck with it though, Just look at it as an excuse to mod it more.

I'm no mechanic myself I can do basic maintenance and I rejeted my carb and adjusted the needle but motor work I don't do much of. I'm hoping to save up for the Sparks 440 national kit and ship the whole engine to Sparks and have them do it. I would screw it up on a whole entirely new level;)

Nice motor, but Its better to get familiar with engines now, then later after you spend over $1.5k on yours.
Sparks motors are extremely nice, but you may want to go ahead and buy a whole new motor, so you can be riding while curtis is taking forever to build yours :eek: :p and plus, his work doesnt come cheap at all...

I had a feeling it would take a while. Do they BS you on the wait time like some of the shock manufacturers? I think the kit is like $2200 alone so I figure 3k.

no, it's just that sparks doesnt gaurentee any date, he gets to it when he feels like it.
A friend of mine has tried to talk to him at a few national races, and he says curtis thinks he too good to take the time and help him out on his FULL sparks motor!
Basically, he's stuck up.
My friend doesnt ride anymore, but he wasnt just any joe blow racer.

I thought about Trinity but there site doesn't list any of the reliability mods. I don't know anyone with any Trinity experience either. Who else is a good engine builder that doesn't take 10 years to get an engine built and sent back?

It was just a 416 with 10.8:1 compression. Stock rev limiter. Im not having very good luck finding a motor. Thats gonna suck going from a 416 back to stock. Oh well. Later, Ant.

you try east coast atv? they do alot of conversions so they might have spare motors

Ant, I saw a motor on ebay Yesterday, look there.

I saw a couple on ebay. One was a janssen racing 440. Wouldnt mind having that one. It comes with an lrd pipe, and fcr 39 carb.

I guy on here named foxrage, i think, has one for 800 that is stock.

I wish i could afford a yz engine or a crf. I would even like to put an R motor in it but i dont know how well that would work. I love two strokes.

well if anyone remembers i messed mine up while installing my oil cooler, well the guy welding it ruined it, its not his fault the hole was to close to the gasket surface and it warped and the hole didnt fill good and well its just ruined. brand new they are alot!!!

would you pm me if you are, i dont know what its worth to ya but you might recoup some of your loss by parting out the good stuff

la400 tha exact same thing happened to mah old 440 john deere sled junker snowmobile...rod broke and swung around and cut about a 2 inch wide 8 inch long gash from tha bottom to tha top end.....im still lookin for a new engine its a cyclone 440 if ne one has one too lol :devil id say go for the 440 wit the pipe and carb or the 580 dollar stocker rather than the 800 dollar stocker.... just my .02 :D
