The brakes still work, you just have to get your foot under the pedal and pull up after you use the back brakes.

you prolly need a spring or yours is worn out ......my 06' has a spring which attaches to the pedal and then to the frame

whoops lol i thought i read it as that the back brake was locked up. lol sorry

take that apart and clean it well

it may need a new spring but i would doubt that is the case until it is cleaned well on the surface.

The brake pedal shaft needs some antiseize on it. It happened to me a few times and it can be a bugger to get out if it's really stuck.

had the same problem about a week ago, just take the 2 cotter keys out of the back (one connected to the pedal pivot area thru the frame ) and one connected to the end of the pedal that detatches the pump portion. Then un hook the spring , wiggle the pedal up and down unti it makes its way out. I sanded it down , put soem PB blaser inside where the pedal came out , and then greased it all back up with some wheel bearing grease and put it back together. Simple 10 minute tops fi, no need to buy a new spring either.
