well i hvae heard, then when putting a 14t sproket ona 400ex it is unbelievable, takes off in every gear with the wheels up etc...well i would like to know if you could do that with a 300ex, by putting on a 12t sproket, i am jsut wondering if anyone has done it and what they thought of it and what size tires they have, also if it races through the gears to quick, or a really big change in the top speed, personally i dont top out all the time and would rather have a great ride down low fro some serious trail riding, and i bought a 14t to go with my 20" knarlys i am getting, i think quadjunkies has one

but a little more so. going from a 15 tooth to a 14 tooth is a 7% reduction in gearing. Going from a 13 to a 12 (I assume a 300 has a 13 tooth to begin with) is a 8% reduction. But you will loose top speed and probably go through the gears more quickly.

However I just thought of something. If you are going from the stock tires which I think are 22 inches tall to a 20 inch tire, you will already have changed (lowered) your gearing essentially by 10%. You will probably notice more low end grunt by changing the tires alone.

Hope I helped

Well, for the price of the front sprocket, it is definetly worth a try for yourself to see if you like the difference. (Cheap mod).

Note: If you see yourself needing more "top end", and going into fifth gear regularly, I dought you will like having a smaller front sprocket. If you are looking for more "torque", and not getting into fifth gear regularly, I recommend trying the smaller front tooth sprocket.

Good luck!:)

i didnt like my 12 tooth on my 300ex, even with a 14 tooth it had enough torque to idle up small hills.:huh
