Very first thread in the 400ex forum is the stickys, there is a bearing carrier removal thread in the stickys.

i dont need to remove my bearings, just open the whole swingarm up to clean the clay inside so my bearings arent screwed

once the carrier is out and the axel is removed, if your gonna pull the bearings and spacer out to clean and grease, then I recommend buying new bearings, you will probally destroy them taking them out.

I recently changed mine and had to use a chisle, hammer, metal pipe for bashing...lol.

New bearings are cheap on ebay.

if you take them out they wont be going back in as john said. take them to an auto parts store along with your seals and get new ones.

otherwise, leave them in there till after the race, it depends on how much money you want to spend now or later.

Yup I just went through all of this on my quad. If it is stock, yes you will have to pull the bearings out.

If you have an aftermarket one, there should be a grease zert on the top.

I ruined my bearing carrier so I had to go buy one. $100 on ebay with the bearings already inserted!

if you race and can't do something as simple as that you need to study on here more and buy a chilton.

i still mean what i said in the first post. it would pretty sad having the dealership to change your oil.
