How to edit quicktime videos?

So im wanting to make some cool racing videos but the camera im using puts the videos in the format where they play in quicktime (cant remember which format it is, kinda new to this). Ive edited videos on windows movie maker before which was simple and easy enough to do, but cant seem to find a free converter online that will let me convert these videos to the right format. Any suggestions or other ways to edit them for free?

download MPEG streamclip, its a free video converted. and convert them to .wmv or whatever you want...
