JL ATV sells them.

If you are talking about the roller that bolts to the frame, it's a dirtbike chain roller. I think MSR sells them for about $12.

I think he's talking about the spring loaded tensioner mentioned above that JL has. Seems like I read that it doesn't fit the 88-89 frames because it uses a footpeg bolt to mount. Maybe a weld nut or bracket could be added to the frame to make it work?

that's exactly right I'm looking for a spring loaded tensioner. Lucky for me I have an 86 frame.

I had my chain fall off before, but instead of a tensioner I bought sprocket guards from gt-thunder they work perfect. They are the ones that bolt to your axle they give you more clearance than a skid plate, they don't bend, and if you buy inner and outer they act as a chain guide.http://www.gtthunder.com/450R.htm
Scroll to the bottom of the page.

Scroll to the bottom of the page. this a a better way to go.or use a skid plate and let the plate run close to the chain.when the plate is close to the chain it can come off, because the chain allways starts to derail from the bottom
