electrics are easier to run obviously. but nitro is just...nitro,lol. there awesome

I prefer nitro, but its all in what you want really. Either way your filling gas or charging batteries, atleast if you have 4 or 5 batteries and a 15min charger you dont have to make special trips to get nitro gas.

With electric you also dont need to worry about glow plugs or plug warmers.

I like nitro because its sounds cooler, they tend to be a lil faster and more powerful, gas up and go!

My first was electric, then I worked my way up to a nitro Losi GTX, I still like electrics like the midnight pumkin or bolink diggers, nitro is just were I feel better. Now I go with RTR stuff like traxxas, the last one I bought was a 2 speed jato.

If I had the money Id buy a nitro usa1.

i love my t-maxx, theres nothing like the smell of 2 stroke 20% nitro to lighten the air for a while. once you get them dialed in, they are a blast. really they are no harder to work than a battery setup lol. it takes me all of about 5 minutes to get my t-maxx setup and running and the rest is all smooth sailing after that. mainly its a main jet adjustment to lean it out a bit. I always go to the factory setting on it and go in to where it needs to be after it warms up a bit. the pilot circuit doesnt need to be adjusted too often. I used to race my maxx on the weekends and saw what seemed like everyone but me wrenching on their savages and other stuff while i started mine up, drove it around the driveway to warm it up and took it to the start line.

batteries go dead but they are def getting alot better than they used to in that department.

for either one, traxxas is the way to go imo. great product support and great setups. they have some of the best directions and most setup cars that are competitive right out of the box.

:D

I've had more than my share of both, but for what I do with them these days, a nitro motor/clutch wouldn't make it through one run... ;)

the nitro's sound awesome but are alot more maint.

electric has come a long way, nitro use to blow them away but with the new brushless motors and lipo batteries the electrics are really fast

my son just got a traxxis rustler vxl that is stupid fast, with the lipo battery it claims 70+ mph

even at 50mph it will pop a wheelie and flip over
(even with wheelie bar)

check out youtube video's
there is one skimming a pond and pulling a wheelie half way across
if you can pull a wheelie on water thats some power

Nitro rc cars are suuuuuuper fun! I've got a nitro boat too, and that is also super sick, I'd reccomend looking into those too if you have a pond or something

i have always wanted to try a boat. I live on a 5000 acre lake that would be awesome for ripping a little boat around sometimes. the problem comes when it dies in the middle and you are on shore. lol i have had an electric nyko that wasnt the best but was a blast to play with anyway. steve

I like building boats from scratch, its a awesome hobby and any well minded individual can do it, Ive built a few airboats when I was younger and just recently thought of trying it again.

Theres youtube vids of RC airboats going across grass and snow right into the water, Id like one of those...lol.

out f the two i wold deffinatly go nitro....but if i were you id shell out a few extra bucks and go to the 1/5 scale premx gas rc cars.i got an HPI baja ss and its awesome. too much power for an rc car. no maintenence at all just cleaning, and its a hell of alot cheaper to run it then nitro. a full tank gets you 45 minutes instead of 5-10 with nitro. thats it next to my 1/8 scale savage x nitro truck.

Nitro all the way. I find that with electric, you go until the battery dies (10-15 min) and wait an hour to charge it. Nitro, u go until you run out of gAs, and then refill and your good to go. You might want to let it cool off, but it is pretty good with big fins or a liquid cooled kit.

And go with traxxas. The revO 3.3 is amazing. I can run next to a real car no problem.

I just picked up a 1/16 losi sct. I like it so far only had 2 runs with it, still tring to get the steering dialed in. Have a second battery on order.

we have 3 Traxxas Slash(short course trucks) and love them!!! 2 have stock motor and one has a brushless set-up it will flat out run 60-70mph with lipo battery. I'd personally go elect!!!

I race these just about every weekend.
It all depends on what you are planning to do.
I run Nitro, I have a Mugen MBX6 Buggy and Mugen MBX6T Truggy, Nitro powered all the way for me. personal choice.

Electric buggies are just as fast as the nitro, if not faster. Electric maintenance is much easier, not tuning involved, mainly plug and play. The motors, speed controls(esc's)and batteries of today make running electric a whole lotta fun. With the right set-up, you can get about 20 - 30 minutes of run time in elec at race speed. But of course to get that time you will need to spend a lil bit more money for good lipo batteries. Using a brushless motor set-up will have almost 0 maintenance.

Nitro powered buggies can run about 10-15 minutes per tank at race speed now a days. You still have a reciever battery pack that needs to be charged in Nitro, these batteris run your servos for steering and throttle/brake control. These batterise can probably 3-4 tanks of fuel before needing to be recharged. Please don't let these batteries get low or you can have a run-a-way and blow a motor real easy. I love nitro, not just because of the sound, but for the tuning ability.

If you have any questions please let me know, I will answer them to the best of my ability.

get the 4wd slash, the Vilenium esc and motor it comes with is plenty fast....just purchase a Lipo battery and charger and you will be good to go....Traxxas has, by far, the best customer service in all of RC.

Ya thats what im thinking of getting. The hobby shop I go to has a bad as course right out front. I wish I just bought a 1/10 scale to begin with but I don't know much about rc stuff just getting into it.

Alright this is semi-related.... but man I really have to get one of these things!

It's a Parrot AR Drone, you control it via your ipod touch/iphone/ipad. A buddy let me try his, man it was cool!

I always wanted to get an R/C truck but I knew I'd rarely use it...

The short course class (slash) is one of the biggest classes we have. very fun to drive, easy and take a chit load of abuse....You can also find Traxxas parts in just about all hobby shops. Working on them are super easy also.

Me and my little brother are looking to get rc cars and we found these since were just starting and we just want to mess around with them. Are they a good reputable brand? It says it will do 55+ scale MPH does that mean it actually does 55+ MPH?

I don't have any experience with that exact one, but I have ran many different nitro cars and everyone has screamed. I had a revo 3.3 that would blow the tires off on asphalt.

Just be careful with internet cars.....not a named brand. Parts will be hard to find in hobby shops.....just remember, you get what you pay for.....

It said the parts are compatible with traxxas and other company's. They look good, the frames are aluminum already so thats good.

NEVER buy a non-name brand RC. It is a disaster. You will be fabbing parts and custom making parts.

Go on eBay and buy a nice used Traxxas Revo or Losi LST or HPI Savage. Those are all good reliable MT's.

Also, I have a Hot Bodies D8T forsale if anyone is interested. ;)

I bought a traxxas slash 4x4 about 2 months ago alot of fun, but alot of maintenance and cleaning but well worth it. I havn't broken one thing on it yet all maintenance or the kind of stuff you have to replace right off the bat.
