I am running a 14 on the front and stock on the rear sprocket (whatever number the back is). Does anybody esle feel the robbed power? I feel it alot now. But the top end is great! I also have a 12 tooth sprocket. That one needs some more experiamenting though. Well let me know 250x'rs!

well im done running the 14 up front just yesterday i was out riding and i cant have a chain guard on it because the sproket is to big and the link off of the chain snapped and broke my side case and cracked my middle case to!!!!!! i guess im gonna be spending more money than i thought this winter:(

That sucks! Well, did the 14 rob some power from you? My first gear is now a lot longer. I am bringing the 13 with me this weekend in case I want to change! :D

bigger front sprocket = more top end less bottom end, period

Usually you do some power mods THEN you step up a tooth to gain top end speed, but since your making more power its not as noticable on the lower end.

On a stock bike I can see where it'd be a noticable loss in low end torque.

I dont have a stock bike. It has a 300ex head with a high compression piston and .2 bore.

UMM HATE TO TELL YOU BUT THE 300EX HEAD IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS A 250X HEAD ......... AND .20 OVER ISNT THAT MUCH....SO I CAN SEE WHY U FEEL THE ROB IN POWER U HAVE TO DO SOME WORK LIKE A CAM AND EXHAUST AND PORTING MAYBE IS U DONT WANNA FEEL A ROB IN POWER

If you could actually bore something to .20 that would be huge.. The actual bore is .020 over. And i feel that is a substantial amount to bore considering you can only bore it to .080 without resleeving it.
I am interested in the affects of a 12 tooth Sprocket. make sure you post the results !!

From what I've heard, the 250X and 300EX heads are interchageable but they aren't exactly the same- something to do with the compression (not 100% sure).

I'm not sure on the specifics of the head. Is it just the head or is it complete head, cam and rockers? I DO know that the 300EX cam is a little LESS aggressive than the 250X cam.
