I just put a 416 kit with 11:1 compression in my 400ex and my exhuast is glowing bright red, smoking and burning eletrical tape that is a foot away from the headers. I know its know for them to glow but i dont think it is supposed to glow this bad this quick. it happens within 15 to 20 secs of starting it. My dads crew guy said its to lean and then my friend told me i should change the jetting. the guy who did the motor told me i didnt have to change the jetting since i have a stock exhuast. any suggestions on what i should do? what kind of jetting i should do? thank you

what jetting are you currently at?
id start at 165 main, 42 pilot, and 2.5 turns out on the f/a screw if it was me.

also why would you go to 11:1 compression and still run a stock exhaust?

Need a few questions answered first BEFORE recommending anything jetting wise.
Are you running the airbox with a lid on or off? What filter? Stock exhaust is really going to choke that down, but either way glowing is a sign of running way lean. I wouldn't even ride it until you change jetting. Can't recommend jetting without knowing what you're doing air wise.

air box lid is on but have 9 small vents in the lid and the airfliter is a k&n airfliter

I'd start by upping the pilot jet to a 42 and dropping the clip on the needle down one slot. The fuel mixture screw is what you will need to fine tune to make that glow go away though. The main jet it's hard to say until you ride it, see what it does, check the plug and report back.
Was the carb cleaned well? It's also possible you have something clogging a passageway in the carb too.

plug is black, gonna get a new one tomorrow. also when i first got the motor back and put it in it wasnt running right but the exhuast wasnt glowing and i put 4 hrs on the motor. then i decided to clean the carb and thats when the glowing started.
