If your gonna go with SSD up front, you will want to have your rear shock rebuilt with SSD also!

Well if ya don't have the money for a rear rebuild then don; worry about it. Get your stock shocks so it is saging as much as it can and then you will be fine.(For a while) As soon as ya get the money get a rear rebuild...

you can run fronts and stocks rears thats what i have now, PEP ZPS in the front and stock rear, whicj i will soon have rebuilt. the front sits a bit lower but is not the biggest problem and is comletly ridable. i did notice that in whoops you can definetly notice the stock rear sux :D

I havn't been able to find anything anywhere on how much a rebuild will cost. If it costs too much I will just wait and get a new rear in a couple of months.

I believe a rear rebuild runs around 300 bucks. Little more or alittle less depending on where you go I believe. I know the quadshop does them.

SSD= self sagging device. You can order the Elka's without it and not have to wory about it.

Whats a rebuild, is that where u send them in and they make them better? What are the best shocks? And what are the cost?:huh

There is no "Best Shock".

You people sound like you dont knowanything about susension so something like works would be good shocks for you. Cheap, good quality. Big if you fly through tight woods WOT for 2hrs straightor jump 70 +/- doubles then you should purchase a higher brand like axis, pep, tcs, etc. But its yur opinion what the "BEST" shock is.

If you plan on riding your 400ex very aggressively and can afford an aftermarket rear shock, I highly recommend looking into getting an aftermarket rear shock.

There is a noticeable improvement with the rebuilt rear shock versus the stock shock, but there is also a noticeable improvement with an aftermarket shock over a rebuilt shock.:)

Also... I believe that any aftermarket shock will be better than the stock shocks, as long as they are set for your body weight and riding style.

but can you buy a single rate works shock and have elkas up front?
