personaly i think the no advertising rule is takin to seriously
he helps the site by adding info the site helps him by getting a few customers whats the big deal?

Just because someone has been around a long time does not mean that they are immune from the rules. He broke the rules time after time. What would you have me do - just say, "oh well, who cares about the rules anyway?" If the few rules that we have were not enforced this site would degenerate into a major flame fest in under a month - destroying it. Judging by the results to your poll it seems that most of the people feel he wasn't a big help, or much of a help at all.

Here is the logic behind the no advertising rule - we need advertising dollars to help run this site. I have more than $10,000 invested in this site right now, that means I OWE that much on it. I need someone to help pay the bills which amount to almost a $1,000 a month when it is all said and done. If people advertise for free then why would anyone want to pay to advertise on here? People and companies, Beerock included, advertise to make money - that is the real world bottom line of the situation. What happens when Nacs Racing starts posting ads on here for free because I let everyone else do it? What happens is that no one will pay for advertising, leading to my bills going unpaid, leading to this site going down. I don't ask you guys for any donations, and would refuse them if offered, but someone has to pay the bills - and that someone is me, and they are not cheap ;)

There was always a no advertising rule, check your facts ;) Furthermore, rules are rules. They do not apply retroactively, never have and never will. Beerock knew them, everyone knows them.

If someone constantly breaks the rules they will be banned, that is the bottom line. That is why this site is orderly and full of good information - because there are rules to keep everything on target. Your statement that we are losing alot of good posters is false - we are pulling in many new members week after week, that are attracted to the great information we have on here. If you want anarchy and no rules go somewhere else, because you are not going to find an information and great website, school, job, country, or family that does not have rules that are enforced.

This has nothing to do with listing sponsors, banners, etc. People have always listed their race sponsors, and that is great! Beerock wasn't made an example - he broke the rules time after time after time - he recieved many warnings. You can't give someone warnings and not be prepared to follow up on them. Quad Trix, its just not the banners. Bee was activity trying to sell stuff. I have seen several of the threads.

He also got banned for flaming. I don't know what it was, but the past couple of months, it seem like he went off his medication or something. He was always in a bad mood. And he was posting something negative. I hadn't seen an informative post from him in awhile. Just my opinion.

He was banned for more things than just undercutting the site sponsors. There were several instances of flaming that he got warned for, several instances of advertising that he got warned for and this last flame of his was the straw that broke the camel's back. As far as Bee's pricing on his parts, that's not capitalism. To have your friend's anonymously call the site sponsors (both C&D and TQS) and ask for prices and then turn around and undercut that price by a buck or two is shady. It's not illegal but it certainly is unethical. Doesn't your dad own a fab shop or at least work in one? Would he let another fabricator come into his shop and sell his goods and services? I don't think so. Why should this site allow it? Do you see Burger King inside a McDonald's advertising their Whopper?

The bottomline is this, people get banned because they can't follow the nine simple rules at the bottom of the page. That includes all members of all statuses. If I came on here and broke those rules and was warned about it but kept doing it you can bet that I'd get banned too.

C&D has every opportunity as he did and does, to get his prices on items, if they do not do their homework to see what their competition is up to, that is their own fault. I agree completely that every company should have a fair shake at selling its products - but the fact is that if a company is helping pay our site's bills, why in the world would we want someone on here advertising for free? How do you think we would pay our bills? Advertising is not free anywhere, including here, that is the way capitalism works - you have to spend money to make money ;) The bottom line is that I can't justify having people advertise for free, using the server and software I pay lots of money for, and run off the people who actually help pay the bills. :)

Im not gonna say beerock was right in doing what he did, or advertising, because he wasnt. But if you ask my opinion there are a few other people on here that use this site as advertisement. Maybe they dont advertise in the same form as beerock but I know for a fact, without this site, they wouldnt be anything. Not naming any names, but I think we know who Im talkin about.
