ok guys well i was adjusting my valves today and it seems like you needed a special feeler gauge. im only saying this because it seems there is some resistants before you even are adjusting. the feller gauge has to bend and be almost vertical. is this right?

i always just used normal ones and bent them but the special ones wouldn't be a bad idea. think ive seen them on RMATV before

Plain jane feelers worked for me. You must make sure when adjusting the valves that the rockers are loose-they aint your never gonna get the gauge in there.

Yeah, RMATV has them. Motion Pro tappet feeler gauge, exactly what I bought, works great and only $4.99ea.

I always back the adjuster off, slide the feeler in, tighten the rocker down onto the feeler until I can barely pull it out, and lock the nut. No biggie with either kind IMO. 20 minute job.

This ^^^

I used to get by with standard straight feelers. I even put a 45 degree bend on them to make it easier. It's not a straight shot in there. If you put a straight feeler in without bending it, you will get an inaccurate reading because the feeler will be at an angle between the tappet adjuster and valve stem.

I got the Motion Pro feeler gauge last summer and it's totally worth the cost. I won't go back to standard feelers after using it. It has your .004"/.005" feelers built into one tool, and has them pre-bent at the perfect angle to get accurate adjustments. It's also a lot easier to hold and manipulate than a standard feeler gauge.
