I know they used to run them back in the National Days when the 400ex dominated. They sound amazing and rank pretty good on power. I'd go for it. Pretty much anything except DG and FMF will do good. The best are, White Bros, Big Gun, Curtis Sparks, and Motoworks...

Thanks for the reply, I have a hmf now and like it a lot but I'm selling it to my buddy. Want to try something new.

differences between after market pipes on 400ex's are almost insignificant. that being said, if it is aftermarket, it'll flow better than stock. my dad has the evo full system on his z400, and it's nice because it can be dropped down to 94 or 96 dbs using inserts. the build quality is good, but the head pipe rusts since it is not stainless. i believe this has been changed since, and i don't know how this compares to the 400ex version. all i can really tell you is that the build quality of the actual silencer is top notch.

I went with the Curtis sparks and I'm very please with it. It's outragiously loud and its got a deep sound to it. I know White Bros are loud to.

Yeah my white bros is extremely loud, i love it tho. Some of my friends say it sounds like a tractor tho....

I went with a Motoworks slip-on. Maybe a little loud, but sounds awsome. Have received many compliments on it too.

I'm leaning towards either the big gun evo or the lexx pipe, as long as it stays quiet...ish

Im happy with my lexx pretty much. About all I hate was the stupid spacer they use to connect it to the stock headers. Stock header is 1.5 inches, the midpipe for the lexx is 2.

I welded a piece of 2 inch car exhaust pipe on and bingo its good.

I don't know why everyone has a personal vendetta against FMF. I have a powercore 4 and love it. Exceptional build quality and a deep and racey sound. It sounds much better than those stupid high pitched HMFs. Top it all off with a fairly cheap price and to me it seems simple.

I don't know what kind of hmf you was listing to but mine is not high pitched at all.

i don't quite understand it either, because when you really look at any aftermarket four stroke pipe, they're all darn near the same. cobra and dg, i can understand because of the materials they use.

Some of the FMF's are okay, but i've found that the few people i knew if the cheap FMF's they just sounded like crap and fell apart or had no power increase.
