ok well i have a 170 main in, 40 pilot, and 2.5a/f. this quad idles, starts, and pulls good alll the way through. i dont remeber ever feeling this motor bog out. my question is this. when temps get to 80-100 F will i need to go down on the main to a 168? or is it not necisary. im about 1000-2000ft running 93 octange.

its not a necessity but would help out power thats for sure.

its all in how much you want to mess with it really. the 400 carb does a pretty decent job with all conditions compared to the 450 carb. the 450 one is a bit more finicky since it is bigger.

Well what does your plug look like now? That sounds ridiculously fat for jetting as it is. Are you running an open air box? Look at your plug, it's literally telling you what you need to do.

I think... "AND MY QUAD RUNS GOOD"... that it isnt to rich till it sputters on the top end.

And www.jetsrus.com agrees.

Also mills is right the plug is telling you what to do, theres a interesting plug thread on another site that explains it in more detail then average sites.

Here it is, read the links in blue at the bottom for more info.
