I tore the top end apart this weekend to install my new Stage 2 cam, KB valve springs, and do some porting on the head. Long story short I go to take off my Rocker arm caps off to adjust the valves and they are pretty chewed up. At some point somebody apparently decided to use come channel locks on them. Anyway I got to looking at our 2006 400 foreman and there is a cap on the rear end that looks the exact same as the caps on the 400 valve cover. I'm just wondering if any one knows if they are actually the same thing because the Foreman rear end cap is half the price.

Cross reference part numbers, its not the same according to honda.

But, it might fit-ya never know.

BTW you need a 24mm wrench or socket to get them off and dont tighten them to much-snug is more than enough.

The only difference in the part numbers is the middle 3.

Also depending on what site you look at some do call the Foreman part number a valve tappet cap. I just didn't know if anyone knew for a fact.

About the caps, whoever had it before me obviously used channel locks to take them on and off and now they are so chewed up a socket wont even fit over them and they are stuck of there.

That sucks. Try using some channel locks of your own or maybe smacking the caps off with a punch or something (careful they are flimsy).

if you got the foreman caps laying around I say its worth a shot.

Just in case anybody cares I went to my honda dealer today and the foreman rear end plug has a slightly smaller thread size. So you have to buy the ones for the 400.
