After so many years of ragging on bikes that don't have valves and a cam, look what snuck in to my garage last week...

Congrats man. CRs are so much fun!

Is that a 250 or 125? I wanna say 250 based on the pipe.... 97, 98, or 99?

Thanks man! Yeah it's a '97 CR250. I'm pretty stoked about it so far, I've had it out once and had way more fun on it than my CRF250

Yeah for sure!

Only thing I'm not crazy about is the plastics. Don't like black plastics on CRs haha. Also rear fender looks like it could use some plastic-renew. Front fender is from an 02+ CR from the looks of it.

I was planning to build my own 01 CR250 from the ground up.... found a frame for sale and a motor (different people)... could have had them both for $300. Only problem was that when I went to look at the motor, I noticed that the cases had been cracked and poorly re-welded.

Oh bummer, that would have been a sweet project with a nice starting price.

Yeah I'm not digging the plastics much, it was the deal that sold me on this bike. Plastics are cheap too, I'm thinking stock red and white will look good. The front fender is off my CRF :p

Yeah for sure! I'm always keeping my eyes out for something similar though.

If you just throw a UFO plastics set on her she will be good as new! And I know that fender was from something newer haha

Welcome to the light side my friend. Atleast thats how us old guys that learned to ride on non power valved 2 strokes look at it. The 4 strokes are evil. you will enjoy it, and they are way more fun to ride, and take more skill to go fast on.

After getting my KX250, I no longer get adrenaline rushes riding my EX in a straight line. This thing just rips... 2-Strokes are the best of the best!! They are what got us here today, and what i'll die riding!! I'd sell my bed and clothes before i'd sell that KX.

Oh man that thing looks sweet! I would love white plastics, especially if they were off a newer bike too

Thanks man! This is my first 2 stroke, so it will take some getting used to, but so far I'm pretty excited! Plus it's a bit of a project, I like being able to save something that might otherwise get parted out

you might be able to put newer plastics on your bike. on the 01+ you could fit 07 plastics but you had to use the newer tank. plastics are cheap for dirtbikes, might check in that.

I'd really like to put 00-01 plastics on it, and I figured they would fit since the frame is the same, but apparently the radiators and subframes are a little different? I can probably make it work, I'll just do some more research first

you're going to need a 00-01 seat, subframe to use that year plastics on the rear fender. the front shrouds and front fender will bolt right on.

i'm not sure about the side panels and air box but i'll look a little more.
