will a newer cr ignition say like a 04 work on the trx250r or does it have to be a 00-01

to use a cr ignition other than an 00-10 you would need a custom adaptor plate. the timing and ignition maps are alot different since honda started using the electronic powervalve. i believe they started using that PV set-up in 2002...someone please correct me if im wrong.

so if i use this ignition and its a 02 or newer the plate i have will not work?? is this what your saying??

u have to have an adapter plate to run the cr on the trx

to clarify. there is only an adapter plate available for the 00-01 cr250 ignition. to use other years another plate would need to be made.

is there anywhere i can get one. i know this is newer then 01 by the way the cdi looks.

can i just plug a 01 cdi into the harness??

like i stated above, they use a different type of PV on the 04 and newer CR ignition so i assume the CDI is different. meaning they would use different type of connectors.

they have differnt cdi, i just put my cr ignition on mine today, its been sitting in my garage for over a year lol

I bolted it on and man what a difference! one kick fired right up.
i ran it and it runs great but sucks that i have no headlight... im not sure i want to sacrafice my light for a little more power im gonna have to kick this around.

what year did you use and how did you bolt it on?

its a 01 from the numbers on the cdi and i used the billet bracket that came with it i just got done riding right now and now the bike has alot more mid and top but again i just cant get over the light being gone.
