Ok, guys this is getting kinda crazy but i am still trying to get this 250r LSR axle in my brothers 400ex. I have the 250r Hubs and they fit fine. I then bought a 250r Anti fade since you need longer threads on a 250r and it slides on and everything, but it is so close to the 400ex brake stay that the caliper hits the anti fade when it spins..i thought everyone said you needed the 250r anti fade to make it work? Maybe ill just get the stock 250r threaded sleeve and use a RAD lock nut so i am sure it will work. Anyone have any input or ideas as to why the 250r anti fade isn't working?

OR what if i ran a 250r brake stay in place of the stock 400ex one? the 250r one does look significantly thinner that the 400's. maybe that will fix the clearance issue im having.

Why exactly are you going through all this hassle and cash to put a 250R axle on a 400EX ???? Why not just throw a 400EX axle on it and be done ???? I must be missing something here.

iirc he bought what was supposed to be an ex axle off ebay and they gave him a 250r axle.

Thats why i never shop e-bay. If it's not local and i cant see it before i buy it then i keep looking.

Actually it was bought local but wasn't noticed until we went to put the 400 hubs on. That's besides the point now just need to get it going.

break stay would more then likely be the issue.

Mostly cause no one ever tried it before.

There must be a way to make it fit man, just gotta think outside the box.

In reality tho it might be time to scrap it and buy one for an EX.

the problem i see with it could be that the axle carriers are a little different lengths when it comes to the thickness of the break stay. this could be causing a bind. but i could be wrong. possibly check in over at the hybrid section those guys have alot of experience with interchangable parts

id rather make it fit..I got it too cheap to scrap it out and its like new such a good deal and he said it was for a 400 besides the point though...ill make it fit but id like to atleast come home to a normal answer not another question, but i guess ill be the first to do the whole rear end a 250r and ill let you guys know when its done!!;)

it has been covered so many times it is hardly worth repeating over and over again.... just like jetting threads. theres so many of them people can estimate it themselves and learn just like the others did.

a simple search yields plenty of stuff on what is needed.

you need these 250r parts to make it work with 250r axle:

wheel hubs
antifade lock nut
brake bracket
250r rear brakes

the only thing that is the same is bearing carrier. 250r and 400ex have different spline count.

actaully i did search the forums for weeks and every single post said something different. some said all you needed was the hubs and some sad you needed more or less. So i figured i would post a new thread so someone who has DONE the swap could tell me for sure..Theres so many people that post false info on here and its to expensive to keep buying all these parts that done complete the swap. Theres probably about 10 threads on here saying everything swaps and all you need is ONLY the rear hubs which is not the case. Then i read several posts where all you need is the hubs and an anti fade and now thats not the case either. People need to stop posting replies if they have not done the swap and know for sure. Steve i know you know your stuff and so do i but, trust me i DID search for several days. We know what we need now and wont bother you guys about it anymore. Thanks.
