So today i raced my friend on a 700 raptor fuel injected, open air box, full exhaust. 2 races i beat him by 1 quad length. I would have to say, my little 400 walked all over his 700!!!!!!!!!!

He could just a be a bad rider too lol. In reality a worked 400ex revs very quick and the raptor is a slow, heavy hunk of junk imho. I rode one, too topheavy too.

Now go back out....this time you race the Raptor, an let your friend race your 400EX.....then report back....I think it will be something like..."I beat my 400EX on my friends Raptor by 10 quad lengths....I don't understand....."....lol.

we raced down the road, all machine, 3 revs and go.

A statement like this is usually made just to get a rise out of people.

A raptor 700 would smoke the ex.....I'm sorry, but especially with mods, that rapter is waaaay faster.

Raptor weighs over 100lbs more than an EX. I agree its a fast quad but getting the power it has to the ground imho is lacking. They are much more powerful than the EX, stock hp is like 40hp and the EX is closer to 28hp if your lucky-thats quite a bit.

I mean ive rode them before and just find them lacking. Maybe for an all out dune machine its good, but for an all around machine its only ok, I just find them to top heavy and poor handling.

There is also a reason they are cheap lol..they dont hold up it seems.

Real shame honda went IRS on the 700 and made it fugly, otherwise I woulda bought one.

My 660 walks past my 426, and a 700 i assume would be faster than my 660..

Only way to find out: swap riders and report back

could be lots of factors, traction being a big one, if he cant put the power down and you can hes gone. i know i threw it to a few modded raptors on my old stroker predator a bunch of times. but there were times where id loose to a slower machine because i could spin the first 3 gears no problem and unless i was real finessfull id loose or would only catch them top end. not doubting you as ive beaten alot of faster things on my bike before aswell, all comes down to the riders ability usually unless the opponent has a really fast machine

A 700 Raptor with basic mods puts down close to 50hp and about 45lbs ft of torque.

The 700 should have no issues running down a 416 even with a 5 or 10 quad length head start.

Here (http://www.raptorforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21397) is a link for a stock 700 dyno pull. Notice that at 5k rpms it is making close to 40hp. Also, at 3k rpm, it is making more torque than nearly any 416 will at any rpm.

Also, EX weighs 386, Raptor 700 weighs 422. Weight is not a big issue.

Unless he raced you in reverse, had no skills or had a mechanical malfunction, you lose.

dont know what to tell you, but i beat him in 2 races. We also raced on the dirt side by side from rolling start, we were side by side at a stand still..... I think people underestimate the 416!!!!!!!!

the rapters are definetly clunky and top heavy but they're still fast.

I think people underestimate the 416!!!!!!!!

I have owned my EX since 99, I have done nearly everything to it and it will not touch a 700 Raptor with basic mods. That is simple fact. A 416 is a decent engine but it is simply outclassed by the 700 Raptor.

My KFX450 will run with basic modded Raptors and my KFX450 will absolutely leave my EX for dead. Again, my KFX450 will leave my well modded 416 like its not even there.

In a tight woods race, its possible a 416 could beat a 700 Raptor. In a drag race, you stand no chance.

Do explain how a quad that makes significantly more power than your quad at half throttle can lose in a drag race.

The only possible explanations are; he let you win, he raced you in reverse, he has no skills and shouldn't be on a quad or his quad was not running.

Easy, he spun and had no traction and the ex did. Thats how he won.

I think traction is race winner... but I also think a well built 416 is undrestimate... a 416 12.5:1 with an Xr400cam IMO this motor is CHOKED by this cam...

My step-brother got a 700r, and before my rebuilt, with a stock bore 400 with the freebies mods and p&p... equal riders... equal traction ... he never, said nerver pull me more than 2-3 lenght from 0 to until we hit the 5th cuz i got a 14t in front... then he just keep pulling me...

I'm building a 416 12.5:1 with the stage 3 HC and some other mods... and I'm definitly sure that he's not gonna pass me... maybe side by side... but never gonna get in front!

If the race was on pavement, then the traction argument is not valid.

Yes, my engine is choked up due to the cam, however, I built this engine for torque and when I rebuild it here in the next few months I will be dropping a stage 2 cam in it.

I am not knocking a high-compression 416 but that 700R will pull you hard in 4th and 5th. I know from experience. I could pull my friends 700 off the line and hold onto a few quad length lead until I hit 4th and then it was game over. That was on my 416 and the race taking place on pavement.

If people choose to believe that a quad making 35hp will outrun a quad with similar weight and an additional 15-20hp go right ahead. Just remember when you get passed by the person on the "slower" 700R that your 416 is actually faster and you let them win.

Who really cares what is faster. I see your point being "Ya my quad is faster than a 700 raptor"
Thats all a drag race proves is who has better traction and who has a faster quad.
IMO i dont like drag racing if someone says hey lets race ill tell them ok but on the track or in the woods.
Never was into drag racing although i have done some i still like tracks and Trails better.
Race on the track and see who wins then see who wins because its mostly rider and some machine.

This is funny to me..... We drag race all the time and the 700 is not the fast and the kfx 450 damn sure aint fast..... It take's a lot of money to make the 700 go fast.... in 300ft there the sh!$t othere than that there slow stock.

We have a 400ex/440 and now we are building a 426ex.... we also have a 07 700 rappy now.....

It's being built to a 804 with these mod's. 54tb, Racer's Edge +2 head, p&p bye RE, bord for the 54tb, Racer's Edge custom cam, CP 14.0.1 piston, wk 105.5 cyl, Braker +8mm crank DD lock up clutch, and gearing is 16/36 to run 115mph for now.

My 440 kill's that 700... the 700 had a hmf fuel controller, stage 2 hot cam, no lid, and speed controller cut off at the time.

So it is possible the 416 could and can beat that 700 raptor.

4th and 5th really depends on the gearing... and 35hp you can hit that easily with a 10:1 416 with all goodies... Members here have 11:1 416 with dyno sheet and pulling 39 hp... so a well tuned 12.5:1 will easily get you around 42-43 hp ... that's 3.9 hp less then what yammy spec the 700r at the crank... 46.9hp.. not 20hp!!

So. to me... this thread is turning like any other VS threads here... useless
