im rebuilding my 04 450r and i need to know if i should run a stock cylinder bored out to fit 97mm piston and replated or replate my old cylinder and put the stock size 94mm piston in? im going to run a venom 12.25.1 either way. thanks

I just don't trust boring stock cyl. I would buy a cylinderworks bigbore.

^^ Agreed ^^ There has been bored stock cylinders, do well. But some have cracked also. CW is the way to go! :macho

FTZ warned me about going over 2mm over said it weakened the cylinder. I wish i knew about Cylinder Works back then. As far about that piston thats the same compression i went with and it held up fine with pump gas.

yea i think im gona just buy a new cylinder from honda and stay with the stock bore. I found one on ebay for $244 shipped. Anybody know if anyone can beat that price on one?

I would do the big bore unless you are trying to stay in a certen Class it will help tame that first gear so many complain about.

how did u make your 450 a 470r? did u get a new big bore cylinder or bore and replate your stock cylinder?

Took the stock one out 2mm. I wanted a 480 tho thats when they warned me that the stock one may not take 3mm. If they had the cylinder works kit back then or if they did and i didnt know about it thats the direction i would have gone.
