Ok so i gave my stock 05 450r carb to a buddy and he was talking about motor work told him to get the hotrod stroker and maybe a slight overbore told him not to go to high on compression or hed have to run race gas what is the correct compression to run to stay away from race gas. Also told him to get some stock front 450r shocks and revalve them. I had a 400ex a long time ago but have forgot a lot of the hop ups that actually work. He has exhaust and open air box with k&n.

11:1 is the max ive been told on 93 premium gas, all the mods sound good except im not to familiar with strokers so i could say good or bad about them

Kind of what i thought 11:1 I ended going falicon because of the recalls on the 05 450r cranks but most ive seen swear by Hot rods also trying to talk him into a Hotcam or XR cam whats your take on the cam.

11:1 is the highest you can go without 100+ octane.

If anything the best build (if I had to do it all over again myself) is to build is a 416 or 426 10:1 and do a sparks +6 key or get the custom +3 key member wheelie makes. Open the airbox up, do a 450r carb, and a hotcams stage 2 and you got a rip roaring bike. Thats pretty much my setup minus the key and I run 11:1 and Im quite happy.

FYI: 11:1 generates to much comp to run with the timing advanced without race fuel-even then all you can do is run the +3 key.

I will keep that in mind. Is +2 aarms to wide in the woods with 4+1 front wheels.

+2 arms with 4:1 wheels put you at about 46 inches, thats just about right for the woods.

Save your money on the stroker, an take that money an spend on a 11:1 piston, a Hotcam, an if you have the time have the head ported. From what I've been told by some stroker builders, is you have to do alot of work, spend alot of money, an you gain about 1 or 2 at the most HP....also what ever piston you put in a stroker usually goes up 1 compression...11:1 piston ion a stroker goes up to 12:1 which means race gas...also you'll want to put HD studs in....good luck with the project.

I will look into the options on the piston I will tell him about it but his mind seems set on the hotrod crank he told me last night he dont mind running 100 octane fuel. I think he wants the whole thing gone through ported included but I want him to go with things to make him more reliable first so its not a problem later. But what he dose is not exactly what I would do I think the stroke is enough stock and maybe a big bore and a cam.
