View Full Version : Bought one for the plastic

Since others are sharing their recent purchases I thought I better show mine. It is an 86 that the seller bought used off a dealer's showroom floor in 2001. He said it looked like new at that time. I am assuming the dealer outfitted it with the new red OEM plastic and stuck the cr 250R swingarm decals on the fenders to make it look good.
I was looking for OEM red fenders for my 88 because the previous owner put 89 fenders on it. I always liked the look of the red 88 250r's.
The seller had the fenders slicked up in the picture although he told me he didn't. After cleaning and micro-meshing the fenders they are looking good.
Now I am going to find some white Maier fenders for the 86, clean it up, and flip it for a reasonable price.

the white one in the background is his other one, not mine.
My 88 is below. New Cosmic Quad seat and ddrslap decals on the way...
It will look like the 88 I passed on when I got my 250X when I was a young foolish kid.:rolleyes:

That's a very nice clean 88. I always liked the red headlight and hood with white fenders.

Well the red one is now white as it should be. Cleaned up, new Maier plastic, added a headlight and hood; now tomorrow I'll wheel it out to the curb along the highway with a for sale sign.
Once I get my seat for the 88, I will post pictures of that sporting its "new" plastic.

Well the white one is now red. I am keeping this one. Since I am anonymous here, I can tell you that it almost choked me up a little bit seeing this thing come together. I am really fortunate to have a few things work out nicely for me. I would like to do a few more things yet to get it looking sharp, but that will come eventually.
Picture is with garage lights because it is dark and rainy out.

My son said he likes the white 86 better :ermm: because of the red white and blue theme, but that's OK.

Red looks real nice.. but i agree with your son. Still a very nice bike!!!

Need to change your sig to red :D

You're the third person to say that about white ones. Grrr. But I won't be wavered. :)
In late 87 I held out a few months for the white, red, and blue 250X over the gray '87. (Thanks Dad.) That is a beautiful color combination. I offered my son the '86 but he wants to stick with his 400EX.
