So the 400 has been setting in the barn for about two weeks. Went out and cranked it yesterday and blue smoke came out. Only for about 2 seconds and it never did it again the rest of the day no matter how hard I rode it.....so I know on start up its seals but my question is could it just be from it setting up for a while that caused a little smoke? Quads only well its 2 years old.

Yea, probably valve seals. They do dry out overtime and 2 years well its possible.

Unless you start losing massive amounts of oil I wouldnt worry about it.

Yea I'm not to worried about it just thought maybe it was from setting up my truck does the same thing sometimes when it sets up and its only got 58000 miles on it but it is a 97 lol. Guess I can start getting stuff ready for a complete rebuild in a couple years lol

Unless the bike begins to smoke like crazy or the headgasket blows or something I say ride until it blows up. 400ex is a super reliable bike compared to others in its class. Its simple and is designed well for its time.

Now if your just itching to rebuild for power..well I cant fault that

Just keep an eye on it, let it sit awhile and see if it does it again. Could be just a random thing.
