Since i have the whole 400 torn down to clean it up, i'd like to polish the engine up. I cleaned it all up with engine bright real well. Im thinking of using my DA with 1500 grit to start with, is that too much? Then i'll use my dermel to get in the small spaces. Any tips? Thanks

Be prepared to spend alot of time on the cases.. DO not use a wire wheel, as it will def scratch the aluminum.. The paint is a pita to get off, you will work your *** off trying to get it off with 1500.. Use a good paint remover, then 1500 then buff the hell out of it..

This is almost a year( feb-2011) after I put it back together,, Just have to polish on it once or 2 times a month to keep the shine

Did you sandblast the head to get it so clean? Yeah i'll use some paint stripper first to speed up the process.

Aircraft Stripper works great to remove the paint/clear but dont leave it on there more then a few minutes, and make sure you dont get it on you.
