Alright, I got the motor to fired up for the first time but need some help to keep it running and start up easier. Its hard to start, got to use a shot of starting fluid if I dont it seems to get flooded in about 6 kicks (pull plug and its wet). When it does start it idles good but it will die in about 15 sec. or so. I think the the slow jet might be to big. I am only 1 size larger (50) than stock (48) for the 1987 carb. I noticed that an '88 pilot jet is a 45 and '89 is a 42. I was wondering if these were lower year after year that maybe that there was a problem with it being to big to begin with. But want to see what you all think and if there is anything else it could be. Bike has new rings and has great compresion.

carb Type: PJ07A 34mm
Main Jet size: 162
Slow jet 50
AirScrew 2 turn out
Needle 3 slot down
Reed FMF or Boysen ram valve
Airbox: stock no lid
Pipe: FMF Gold series FMF silencer
Engine Dis. stock 30 over
Porting type: ported but not sure for what
Altitude: 1000ft

I'd agree the slow jet is too big. The main jet will be too big as well. I'd go with a 42 pilot and a 155 or 158 main. You can adjust the idle by turning the top of the choke knob. If you need help, keep me in mind as I'm in MI too.

thanks, I thought that but just wanted to make sure and see what others have experienced. I'll get a smalller pilot and hopegully that will solve my starting and flooding problem. where in Mich. you located
