Yep 74mm. 88 is big, real big.

The 350x pistons are only 81mm stock.

so being a 88 mm piston. does anyone have a pic of the lower case n end of a 250x? cuz the bottom end is not a 300 case

Powroll's big bore kit for the 250x an 300ex only go up to 80mm. Bumping the 250x to 288cc an 300ex to 329cc.Yes the 350x is 81.3mm stock and the 400ex is 85mm stock. But you can't go by the cc's of the 350x an 400ex because of the stroke of the crank.

And another thing if you can read the part number on you piston Google it and see what come's up.Maybe it will tell you what piston it is and what it's for..

By the picture's it look's like a 250x. Are you sure the piston is a 88mm? What is the part number on the top of the piston?

hondayzkxrider

The first picture of your quad on the front right fender. It say's L.A. Sleeve Co. I bet if you google there name and get a phone number off there web site. They can an will tell you everything about that sleeve and piston you have. Because I bet it came from them..

how big is a 440 piston? ive heard of people jamming them in there somehow!?!?!

hondayzkxrider
03-17-2011, 11:16 PM
i believe a 435 is a 89mm big bore piston, thus i would think a 440 is around 92mm- 94mm sized pistons

sm00th026
03-18-2011, 06:22 AM
the 400ex big bore kit to 440 is a 89mm piston. And by the picture of underside of your piston it is stamped 89m.So that is what's been done. Some body put a sleeve and piston from a 440 kit in it.

been alittle busy but i found out it is a 250x not a 300 the upper control arms are adjustable so would not be a 300 does anyone kno where the vin is on the 250x's?

dabomb_350x

What you have is a 1987 TRX250X. Do to it having the red and gray plastic, the smaller 4X110 bolt pattern on the front and the replaceable upper ball joints on the a-arms. As for the ATV VIN it is located on the lower front bumper bracket, the flat part where the rust is on your first pic. The motor VIN is on the exhaust side center case.

Now as for you motor info, call Tom Carlson up at TC Racing Engines.

http://www.tcracingengines.com/index.cfm?id=207546&fuseaction=browse&pageid=1

He is known for putting different piston in bike like a XR500R piston in the ATC350X motor. And that what the TC markings are for that are on the motor. It even tells you that is is a National motor built for Aaron Bills.

Thats probably not a 400ex piston, measure the wrist pin. I bet its 19mm. Four Stroke tech uses a wiseco piston, which is what you have there, thats a custom build piston on huge bore 250x, and 300ex motors. I saw one the other day that was an 86mm piston which is a 380. Uses a 400 sleeve but NOT a 400 piston since the wristpin for those are 20mm....

Let us know how you come out.

hondayzkxrider
04-14-2011, 10:23 PM
yea i will look tomarrow i do kno its a 89 mm piston as for the wrist pin ill have to go look.

hondayzkxrider
04-15-2011, 01:58 PM
it is a 19mm wrist pin

Have you call TC Racing to see what you can find out since it a TC built motor. It not a Four Stroke Tech or a Powroll built motor.

Here more info for you. to get a hold of them.

What exactly are you needing for it? You can get rings from Wiseco, part number 3388XC. It should run damn good if you get it back together...

I was asking what it is you are asking here???? What do you need for this engine? I'm failing to understand where this thread is going.

hondayzkxrider
04-16-2011, 09:45 AM
well since u justed jumped into our conversation here on my thread. u will notice that when i got this bike, i didnt kno what it was. looked like a 300ex but didnt u kno. so i wanted to figure out what bike this was and why it has all this motor work done and what is done to the motor, ect ect so that way i can successfully rebuild this motor and clean the bikes chassis up to get the bike running again. Where i fail is to see why you are asking what direction MY thread is going when its all explained from the beginning to the end. So right now it looks like a pointless thread. But i do now kno almost everything and detail about this bike to do the right thing to refinish it and have a nice bike to ride. that is all for now. thus why my thread is here. jus sayying. anyone have any other details about the BIKE please feel free to post your info up. thanks

Did it come with an oversized oil cooler? Seems that thing would be producing some heat. I wish I could build my 300ex up like that. That is for sure an 87 trx250x with one big *** bore.

hondayzkxrider
04-16-2011, 10:15 AM
im not sure if it did or not . everything iv been mentioning was already done to the bike. but yea that would make sense to use a better oil cooler. i didnt see one off the bat so i'll will go check. if there isnt one. thats proly why im rebuilding the motor lol as for other im going to call tc up and ask some ?'s

Wow, I was saying its not clear what else you are trying to find out. You wont get ANY help from me in this thread or any other you start which sucks because I own a Four Stroke Tech 380. Have a good day.

hondayzkxrider
04-16-2011, 12:20 PM
well you didnt help me anyway. and u can own a four stroke tech 380 but thats not what i have. its really not hard to do any of this work. i was just getting irritated because of the questions you kept asking. i didnt mean to make it sound negititve in any way im just trying to figure **** out. one more question i have for you.. ims. how is it not clear what i am asking in this therad.?

sm00th026
04-16-2011, 03:44 PM
It's clear as day.. That You needed to know what size the motor was(250x,300ex) and what size is a stock piston.I told you it was a 250x motor and stock piston is 74mm .And you tryed to find out info about the 89mm oversize piston. No simpler then that!!

thank you smooth, as for you IMS im sorry if i came off in a defensive way earlier i was not in a good mood. but i give thanks to everyone that helped ID the bike. now all i got to do is clean and rebuild.
