Alright guys, I wanna start polishing parts on my Cannondale, starting with the bumper.

How would I go about doing that? I have a Buffing Wheel, Dremel, sand paper, heavy-duty rubbing compound, & of course mothers, but I dont have any steel wool.

I would like an almost mirror finish. Could someone please explain in detail on what process you use.

I would also like to know if using a spray clearcoat would keep it shinning afterwards?

Thanks alot

this is what i do, other people may do it different.

1. sand part in steps- 120, 220, 500, scotch brite (red) pad

2. buff using emery (black) compound

3. then red rouge

4. then white rouge

5. then greasless jewelers rouge (blue)

6. wipe part down with yellow flannel rags or similar super soft cloth. i get the rags at walmart.

everything i have clearcoated after polishing, the clearcoat will peel off, because it has nothing to stick to. clear powder coat is the only way.

Just take some 180 sand smooth
220 sand again
300 sand again
400 sand again
600 sand again
ultra fine buffing pad (optional)
Blue magic metal polish with ammonia!
should have a look better than the traditional polishin method
looks identical to chrome!!

What's that rouge stuff you talk about? Can all of these materials be found in a body section at any auto parts store?

if you have a local sears hardware store, they sell packs of 4 bars for polishing. i think like 20 bucks for all four compounds.
the blue will not come with it. the blue you would have to order on the net.
