Try using Photobucket or Tinypic to post pics. It's really easy. Welcome to the site!

link isnt working, try tinypic.com, its pretty easy like troybilt said.

id suggest you do a compression test before you spend money on a new piston and rings if it doesnt need it... the procross head is an indicator that you most likely do have a ct jug also even tho its not engraved "ct" maybe it wasnt ported by them? I would reccomend checking all your nuts and bolts before you go out and "ride hard"

It may not have originally been from CT.The person that you bought it off of,may have sent it to CT to have some work done to it,or just been full of it?Basically CT can get you any piston that you could possibly ever need for that cylinder. You need to take the cylinder off and look at the piston.Depending on the piston, there is Numbers on top,and on some, the numbers/letters are inside the piston skirt.Just get all the #'s/letters that are on, and in the piston, and call Ct and they can get you set up good.Does the cylinder have a spacer plate on the base! The 250r's have two standard length rod sizes.86 is the short one,and 87-89 in the long one.Usually the 86 style piston is used with both sizes. If you have a spacer plate, then you have a long rod crank,no spacer plate then short rod. Also if you take the head off, then it will be a good idea to get new o-rings for when you put it back together. To do the ultimate freshen up,then you could take your cylinder to your local machine shop and have it professionally honed, and at the same time they will tell you if the cylinder walls are out of round. Also you could buy a new piston needle bearing, that way you would know what you got.The piston kits come with the piston pin and sir clips. After all this take your two stroke pre mix oil and coat your cylinder walls and put it back together.Make sure to use the right torque settings, for base and head.

base gasket / 's
head o-rings
piston kit
needle bearing

The previous owner said it is a 1986 frame with a 1987 style long rod crank. He also said he runs 93 octane mixed with castor 927 at 32:1. If it is a 310 and i didnt get ripped off, shouldnt i run a higher octane gas becuase of the big bore kit?

nice work the link is up! ct used to be the cheapest place to buy the pro x cylinders. you could order them stock, play or full out race ported. it's hard to tell what you have (other than a nice looking quad) with it all together. you have a lot to learn about your new toy. start with the compression test and go from there. everyone will help as they can.

have fun learning!

Most Pro Cross heads have interchangable domes that seal with o-rings,from custom to race fuel to regular pump gas domes. So you probably have a pump gas dome installed.Your bike is super clean!I noticed on your head bolts that you have some sort of thick black spacers.I've never seen that?

Compression limits your octane... Anything over 185/190 psi (rule of thumb) needs higher octane fuels...

Not sure what you paid for that bike, but looks like you did great!! nice looking bike, if those are OEM 88 plastic, even better!! Good buy!

It is definitely a pro-x cylinder. Could be a 265 or 310. Since it does not have a spacer plate it does not have an 87-89 long rod crank. You will have to pull the head to see exactly what piston it has to know if it is a 310. To be safe, run at least 100 octane fuel if you are going to ride it without taking if apart.

lots of money in plastic there, those are OEM by the looks of the mounts and labels. pro-x cylinder is correct, appears to have ct mid range pipe, and some sorta pwk carb. or something hiding behind the rear fenders, 86 frame is also correct.

Yeah whats with those big spacers under the acorn nuts on the head? I've never seen that before, just copper washers usually. Maybe the head studs are too long or went from a really thick head gasket to o-ring setup?

It was listed as 3800 with title and i offered him 2500 and he took it. After a thourough inspection today and some research it has pep shocks front and rear, a 38mm airstyker carb, boyesen rad valve, and renthal bars. Not sure about the a-arms and swinger, or the steering stem and stablalizer? Some more pics, http://s1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee417/jwags131/

I went and got some sunoco race gas 110 and cut it with 93 ocatane and castor 927 for my premix. Filled the tank up, put a fresh spark plug in and rode the quad for 3hrs+. It handled very well but the engine (which took a while to get started) didnt seem to run as well as it did when i test rode it. I pulled the main jet and it is a 172. Im taking it in to my local honda shop to get a compression test on monday, just to be safe. Thanks for all the help with my new toy.

Your a arms and also your swingarm are both 100% aftermarket. Not sure of the brand, but definitely aftermarket. Also your frame looks like it has been gusseted near the swing arm bolt on both sides,it's a good thing. On the fuel,it will not hurt for you to run strait race fuel if you have a pump gas dome installed in your head.It will only hurt if you run regular fuel with a race gas dome.Very nice quad that you got!

jwags13. I live in Punxsutawney, and if you ever want to go riding, let me know. Or if there is some good riding down your way, I'd travel.

Yes, there is a ton of riding down my way! Days and days of old strip mines and hill climbs to play on. All easy access too, just have to cross a road or two.
