Well if you did blow the top end gasket, you would have sucked in air and probably some antifreeze, hence the white smoke.I do'nt think it's your piston, because the 250R will run all the way up until you shatter a piston.Have you checked your compression?I am not sure why the liquid came out your overflow in this event. Will your engine still turn over?

I would guess if you blew a head gasket coolant may come out the overflow. Exhaust gas get pushed into the water jacket and pressurizes the coolant system.

thats a inexpensive fix. just replace the gasket and order an extra while you are at it. i have blown a few head gaskets and my fix is to use a smaller diameter head stay bolt and use a nylock nut. be sure to just tighten up to the bracket. over tightening it could cause it to twist and make another blown gasket more likely to happen.

another thing. check the head for flatness when its off.

when you tighten your head stay bracket, loosen your other motor mount boilts so the entire engine can adjust to the head stay, after head stay is tightened then tighten other motor mount bolts.

Also that is text book blown head gasket symptoms.
