Hey guys when I go to push the starter button, nothing happens, not even a tick or click. Ive traced all the wires and found no breaks corrosion etc..
I believe the starter is fine b/c I can jump the starter off with a pair of cables, and it'l fire up. And the starter runs great.

What could my problem be?
I'm leaning towards the selenoid, but not sure. And that damn thing is 75!!!

Thanks for any input!

Check your battery... It might be dead. Check your ground cable for the battery. If the solonoid is bad, i'll post up the part number to a solonoid i got from my local auto parts place that works great.

Fully charge the battery and it should be good.

But I hooked the jumper cables directly to the battery terminals. Wouldnt it start still? Cuz I can have the lights on while the cables are hooked up, and it still wont make one sound when I mash the starter button.

Dude I just had this same problem on my bike, I used the orig solenoid on the rebuild over 10 years old.. It would do the same thing, start some times, do nothing others. Pulled the switch apart, getting power in and out.. So I jumped the solenoid, seems it was the case..

So your saying you hooked cables to the solenoid, and that fixd it????

I hope I can get away with that. I dont understand why mine randomly went out.

I tested the switch wires, they were showing that power was coming through the switch.. I tested one pole of the solenoid with testers, was getting 12 volts to it.. I hit the switch with the tester on the other side of the solenoid. I was getting no power to the post with the switch held in, no power to the starter post. But I could jump from one post across to the other on the solenoid with a screw driver, it would fire right up.. Why you ask it would go right out?? Because it is electrical, **** like that seems to happen from time to time.. LOL

MAKE SURE YOUR BATT IS FULLY CHARGED..

It is completly drained. I hooked my dads industrial battery charger up to it, and it cranked it over with the press of the button.
My truck didnt supply enough jiuce to do that lol.

Should I deal through my dealer? Or can I find a battery the correct size and possibly cheaper elsewhere?

I have a brand new yusa battery, never been filled.. I am pretty sure it will work in the stock tray. It is for a gsxr 1000 and has more CCA's then the 400ex batt does.. Alot of the guys with the 440 kits or compression use them.. Let me know if your interested in it..
