Ok guys I have done a search on this and I got a lot of info but I want some more oppinions. I'm getting some 8 paddle straight haulers and I'm woundering what you guys thing the best tire size is and what rims between douglas .125 or .160 . I know the price difference isn't much between the two rims I'm just woundering if the weight difference is enough to make me a little faster. I only ride in the sand in Pismo so there are no rocks or any rough stuff and I don't jump a whole lot but mainly I want the best for flat drag racing or up hill. Any oppinions are appreciated.

Yo poppy, I had 8 paddle haulers on 8" dougalas 160's I think but if you are absolutely sure that your not gonna be jumping much or hitting anything I dont see why you couldnt go with the 125's. The last time I rode in the sand my friends wheels were getting dinged from other morons not paying attention as to where they were going! But I'm not sure on the weight difference between the two.

get the .125's it will save about a pound or so on each rim and since you don't jump it will save you money and work better in the drags.

Ya that is kinda what i was thinking. Now about the tire size what are the advantages between taller and shorter tires and the same with the width or does it really make that big of a difference eather way?

With your engine mods run 20x11x10 with 7 paddles. Run eight if you get a big bore kit. Otherwise 8 paddles will rob you of too much power.

I do plan on going with a 416 kit later on this year with a hotcams stage 2 . Do you think the 7 paddles would still be enough with those mods because I don't want to buy another set later on.

That will be fine. Enjoy them, they hook up great.
