I douvt that he used any sand paper or steel wool. The Tripoloi will take out most or alot of the small brushed aluminum look.

if you polish the headpipe will it stay? or need constant maintenance, it is a full exhaust though...t4

I did my header.It will loose the silver and turn a nice copper color.But evetually>sp? it will start getting little black spots up near the head. Ill try and get a pic of what it looks like now.About 3-4 months after polishing.

Mine started turning blue and copper colors.

got a header pic for ya.I havent polished it but the first time when it was silver.Before turning the copper color.Its just been washed and occasionally wiped off with a rag. if you look on the lower pipe you can see the black spots i was talking about

I wanna start doing that to my quad. What supplies, tools will I need to get started? And what are the steps to getting it shine like you have yours? I gotta compliment you guys on your polishing though, it is amazing what you guys can do!

No, he polished it.

Guys, for steps, just do a search for polishing. There are about 20+ threads in the past couple of weeks. If you read them all it will give you almost all the info you will need.

The only thing they don't tell you is it takes a lot of time. It took me about 20+ hours to do my nerfs. It is a lot of sanding. That is the key.

I tried, I stripped the paint sanded it and then took my buffing wheel to it. it is steel (I think) mine wouldn't polish I may be doing it wrong but I polished my side cases and throttle cover and they turned out great.

Yea heat shields are pretty hard to get a good shine on em.I think its from the bending to shape it .Theres alot of lines in em,but they will shine up
