The CHP direct drive looks and sounds awesome but what is it actually doing or replacing? Has anyone had good experience with it?

It removes the front cent. clutch, making it "direct drive". You will have to hold the shifter "between gears" no have "neutral". Hold it between 1st & 2nd, rev it to the moon and drop it back in 1st gear and go.

The downside is that if your rider locks up the rear brakes, or gets a brake check from another rider, it's ez to stall.

Upside is you remove prob 1.5-2.5lbs of rotating mass off of the crank :eek2:

They run well but a lot of Race series are making Production rule where it must idle when in gear thus a dirct drive would be illegal.

In our district they are no longer legal. Also the atva nationals no longer allows them in the Production auto class. They may run Production class but the two strokes also run hand clutches and shifters in that class..

Check before you spend.

Just go manual clutch if your series will let you. Its not a hard conversion plus helps prep the kids for a larger machine when ready! We tried direct drive but now have manual clutch

No. They have a "mini open" class which allows "factory maunual" clutch quads to run. (raptor 125, apex shifter) Im sure you could run for "fun" but if going for year end im sure someone will protest... AWRCS allows a manual clutch, great series in western PA, XC racing though, not sure what you guys are into
