Sportsman 90, please look

ok so my buddie got one for free and it has sat in a shed for around 5 years, but the problem is i wont run right, its not the carb. That has been cleaned a couple times, what happens is when you give it gas it cuts out and wont move. It also only runs right when you go down hill, but it wont move uphill, any help would be great. thanks for looking

if it was in the shed for 5 yrs check the exh for a mouse nest.my bike had one and it would idle but it would die out when you gave it gas.also check to see that your rear clutch and front variator operate smoothly.if it doesn't it won't engage the belt under load.make sure gas filter is clean and carb pilot and main jets are PERFECTLY clean.one little piece of anything and these things won't run too well.let me know how you make out.:D
