ok gotta kfx400 bored out to 440, i got 18 in tires, i ran 20 in before and had a 14/40 sprokets on it, i looked at other 450;s that have 18 tires and the run 14/36 or 14/38 sprokets whick i would think would gear it down alot but im not sure i never rode with 18's before so my questions is what do you 450 riders like to run with ur 18 in tires, 14/36? 14/38? thanks!

You can't compare to a different machine because they often use different internal gearing, so the overall ratio might be the same with different sprocket setups.

The only way is to try it and see what happens. If it's revving out too much, change gearing. I liked to keep my gearing tall on my race bikes, as long as the motor had the oomph to pull it, it meant I had to do a lot less shifting on the race track, and didn't tire me out as much. If gearing was real short you were constantly on the clutch and shifter to keep it going and it would wear you out.
