My daughter's crying out for a quicker rev on her Raptor 125. She's not ready for a full race build, but I would like to add some bolt-ons to uncork the engine a bit. Sounds like the engine needs a more aggresive timing curve, does anybody know of a rev box available yet, except the one from GTT? The GTT one is more money than I want to spend.

Procom finally came through with a rev box for my Raptor 125. Just thought I would post up the link for anyone that may be interested. Here it is. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130503419052&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT#ht_500wt_1182)

It's not on the Procom website yet, this is the first place I saw it.

I ordered the Rev Box and HMF Exhaust, I hope to make better power now..

Got the rev box in today and got it installed. My daughter just did a few laps around the yard, but the difference was very noticable. I come with selectable timing curves, I chose setting #5, which is timing curve 2 and a 1500 rpm increase over stock. On her unmodded machine I think this will be sufficient until I am able to put an exhaust on it and open up the airbox. I'll let you know how the power increase works on a race track in 3 weeks.

quaddad, I would love to know how the HMF works too. And about your jetting and air box when you get it all sorted out.

Right now with the baffle out of the exhaust, airbox lid off, running a 150 main jet. HMF calls for a 165 main jet, so we will see.
They say maybe 2 weeks wait on the exhaust....

Is anyone racing these? I was wondering what kind of power one could get out of this PRODUCTION LEGAL quad .

What kind of power did you gain with these mods?

Been racing one since last October. Haven't tried to make any real power yet, the aftermarket is just now responding to this quad. Check out GT Thunder, they seem to have worked up quite a bit for this little quad.

The jetting and lid off was a noticable improvement but I'm looking for big gains with the Exhaust and Rev Box.

I saw that, was wondering about the carb. The stock one is a 29mm Mikuni and HMF is selling a 28mm Kehein. Is the Kehein that much better of a carb?

How loud is yours without the baffle?

The bike is alittle louder with the baffle out.
I installed the Rev Box today, it seems to help wake it up more.
I can not wait for the Exhaust...
After exhaust it might be awhile before I can afford more mods...
Looking at suspension next.

I had to do suspension before motor; have you ridden the Raptor? It's sprung really hard even for me. I put some HLS front shocks from GT Thunder and resprung the rear shock myself with a spring off the front shock of a Raptor 700. The combo works very well, much softer now.

I'm gonna try to get the baffle out and rejetted before our next race. Thanks for the heads up.

What setting did you put the rev box on?

I set it on #5 like you did. My Daughter has a Race Saturday at Budds Creek, so I will see how the Rev Box works. Its her 3rd race at Budds Creek so I do have something to compare it to.
I will give you some feedback after the Race.

well my daughter crashed in practice saturday and bent the tierods and steering stem so we did not find out much about Revbox.
Got the HMF Exhaust on today and it sounds Awesome, Jetted to a 165 main Jet per specs. Did not get much of a test drive with the messed up frontend.

Sorry to hear about the crash, hope she is ok, sounds like a pretty hard lick.

Good to hear about the exhaust; I await your full test when you get quad and daughter back together again.

ccdhowell what HLS shocks did you go with?
with Resi or not?
Is it possible to get a pic of the Shocks on the Quad? Thanks..

Here you are.

I went with the no resi shocks, I didn't see the need to spend the extra and have been very happy with my decision so far, they are set up perfectly for my girl.

I changed springs on the rear shock to work better with the softer fronts. I used a spring off a set of shocks I had resprung for my old Raptor 700, have no idea what the spring rate is but it seems to work well with the fronts.

That rear spring was a booger to get changed out tho.

And because I can't resist, here's an action shot.

Here she is hitting a kicker slowing up for a turn after an open run.

Hey Guys,

I have tried all CDI Boxes out there for the Raptor 125. I currently am working with a test box from Procom and it seems to be the best box out there. Be on the watch for putting a YFZ 450 box that requires you to alter the harness and this is why...

A YZF box is for a water cooled motor and gives the motor more timing and produces alot of heat. Don't get me wrong this box works good and I tried this box, but on an air cooled motor you can't run that much timing. Cylinder temp gets too hot and starts to dentinate after about 30 minutes of continous running. I wouldn't go over 34 degrees total timing

I ran the 450 box for 3 races in the beginning this year and after 30 minutes the motor started to smoke to do getting hot. Pulled motor apart every race and could see dentination on the piston and cylinder head.

Put the test box from procom and have not pulled the motor apart since. I check cylinder temp with this box and it looks great. Piston looks brand new after 5 races.

As far as carb.... don't go too big!!!! Raptor 250 and 125 run same carb???? what does that tell you. Bigger you go less bottom end you lose.

I have spent many hours of R&D time on the raptor this year to make it competative and reliable. Will be glad to help

Thanks

I'm running Fox X EVOL in front and I think Podium in rear. Right now we have an HMF Pipe(round silencer). I tried about 4 different pipes and HMF produces the most bottom end while not losing top end which is needed in cross country. (26 to 32 inch header pipe works well)

I will be offering a 12:1 comp piston for these quads in about 4 weeks. Let me know if I can be any help

Thanks,

I like the engine kit that HMF offers, do you have anything in the works like that? Piston, cam and all?

These engines seem to be limited on the rev, feels sluggish, doesn't want to breath and rev, have you worked with the porting any to improve breathing?

Right now we're running HLS shocks and the Procom rev box you're referring to. I'm in the market for more power, reliable power, and want to work on this engine sometime late summer or fall, be sure to post up when you have a piston ready and a cam would be nice too.

Have you found that the jetted stock carb works best? HMF sells a Keihen carb with cable that they say works better for an engine with mods.

I will infact be offering a stage 1, 2 and 3, seperate of head work. I have been working with the porting and have had excellent results. I will also be offering + 1mm intake valve and bronze seat installation with a competition valve grind.

Cams are tough... not many out there... I'm looking into taking specs from a cam I ran last year and introducing it to the raptor cam. With these little hemi heads on these quads you can't run a lot of valve over lap, so you can't go with a too radical of a cam.

Thanks,
