on the axle lock nut does the smaller nut sit next to the rotor or the big nut? we had four of them out on sunday and two had them one way two had them the other way. beleive it`s supposed to be small nut pressed up on the big nutt not the rotor, right?

That is the lock nut, and it's supposed to be against the large nut to keep it from loosening. Keep it wrapped in electrical tape to prevent this from happening again.

Doing it that way serves no purpose at all, and is completely wrong. If you are running it this way, the big nut will eventually loosen, causing the axle to trash your bearings and probably your carrier.

Lock tight will eventually break loose. It's not going anywhere with electrical tape. Been doing it for years.

yeh. we had electrical tape on all four guess that`s why the two wrong ones hadn`t loosened up yet. thanks

if you can get your hands on one, the RAD lock nut was probably one of the best investments i have made so far. it also cleans it up a lot.
