Hey everyone, great forum by the way! I got a 2000 400EX with minor mods and love it to death..but shes getting old. When im in third or fourth and cruisin and then kinda rug it like three quarter throttle, it kind uh grinds or screatches a little. Im just wonderin what it is, how much to fix, and if it is a reasonable fix for a teenage mechanic? Thanks.

the splines where my sprocket hub and axle meet are a little worn but not stripping so i dont think its that. i think it may be the bottom end.

It never skips or anything but maybe tranny gears?

Probably in the top end man.
Mine does the same. IDK about now after the crf chain and new intake valves. I havent gotten the valves yet.

But I know what your talking about, it does it when the engine is under a heavy load.
I have no idea what it is either.

I dont know if it is the top end cuz if the cam chain was skipping it would have already **** the bed and i dont know how the valves would have anything to do with it :/ thanks though

might want to take a look at your crankshaft key, at the flywheel, you could be sheering it

if it is when you under a load it is probably your clutch.
