Ex has stock bore and piston.It has uni filter fmf slip on and put the jet in that came with pipe. Previous owner went from 15 tooth front sprocket to a 14. If I put the stage 1 cam in it will it hurt it more than helpling it. Just trying to get any info before I ordered it. Thanks in advance.

It will give you a nice bottom end and some mid too!! with your setup ... worth it!! Don't go stg 2 it will overkill your motor. Stg 1 is perfect!

i have a stage 1 hotcam and just a .020 over bore and the cam gave my ex alot more power low,mid for hill climbing.

i love the stage 1 in my ex,however i have not ran the stage 2.I think the stage 2 is more for mid- top end power and i did not want that.

When I put the cam in does it have a paper that comes with it for a different adjustment on the valves? Or do the stay on the stock setting?

Any cam you buy will come with instructions.

A hotcam you must adjust to thier specs, once its broken in you can adjust the valves back to stock specs tho.

Ok guys thanks for all your help. Next question the guy I bought it off of said he was running Royal Purple motor oil in it. Is that ok to run in it or do I need to go with a different oil?

Whatever oil you want to run is ok, gotta remember that the EX is as wet clutch system, where the clutch and the motor share oils. So any oil you pick, look on the back of the bottle and make sure it DOESNT say energy conserving.

Most run shell rotella, honda oil, or mobil 1 15w-50. Any heavier oil is usually good tho, at least 10w-40.

Ok guys was looking at the stage 1 cam and it said does not use auto-decompression mechanism. What does this mean and do I have to do anything special to put cam in ex?

i got a 4ooex from my cousin and he put a 14 teeth and a slip on white bro and i was thinking of getting a stage 1 cam also can i do port and polish

Can you tell a difference in the Ex if you change the cdi box as well, Or whats the best one to get??

IMO Cdi's are waste of money and I don't get why peoples want to make a 400ex air cooled rev 1000 rpm more!! Maybe to overheat the motor? Or looks cool? Did it comes with flames on it?

when you build a motor... build the motor, not plastic box!

If you wan a mod that bang ure bucks... get the sparks +6 timing key
