I got a 400ex,fmf powercore 4,uni filter,jetted carb,what can i do to make it control easier though in the woods without spending 500 dollars

upgrade the front shocks, and/or install a steering stabilizer.
either will help greatly, both will be better.

SHOCKS!!!! Get some 450r fronts, they fit on with some small modifications to the frame or you can grind the top of the shock eye a bit.

Also good tires, best combo hands down is maxxis razr 2 fronts and regular razrs rear
