Question: Can I run E-85 with proper jetting with a 11:1 Wiseco piston without having any problems? I've heard you can't let E-85 set to long because it collects moisture fast...E-85 being cheaper than race gas and regular pump gas, just wondering.....

But will it work with a high comp 11:1?

With higher jetting, does it seem to suck more gas? and what does exhaust fumes smell like? I've been told like a brewery...

You can run E-85 with proper jetting, the moisture myths are bogus IMO. I've let my quad sit for 5 months the last two winters with a half tank of E-85 and have had zero issues with water, corrosion or any other Ethanol myths. I've been running E-85 since Feb 09', it's a great fuel. Works great for my 11.5:1 engine and advanced timing.

When fueling up, it smells like someone is cooking popcorn. The exhaust has a sweet smell to it, I love it.

If you convert to E-85, tune your machine for the winter blend, or at the very least the Spring/Fall blend. Summer blend I run 4 gallons E-85/1 gallon premium. Winter blend I run E-85 straight.

Fuel consumption is noticeably higher on corn. I went up 30% on the pilot circuit and 25% on the main.

So right now, I have a 168 main jet, and stock pilot jet....with a 11:1 compression going in on a 402 bore, what would you guys think I should start at??? With E-85 being cheap here, would jetting it higher make it run a whole lot more gas???That being said, I may have to start telling my buddy to carry some gas with him for me....

When you go to bigger jets you will use more fuel.

For a good starting point with your setup, I would recommend: 50 pilot, 200 main, 3 turns out on the A/F screw and a needle with a more aggressive taper to it. If you're running the stock needle, you could try running it on the bottom notch.

Will running E-85 break my motor down faster than running premium pump gas..??

I doubt it. Today's gasoline is very dry--has little lubricating qualities, as does E-85. I've seen pictures of 100k car engines that were run on E-85 and the upper cylinder/valve guide wear wasn't any more than it would have been on gas.

I've run a lot of corn through my engine and it runs much better now than it did a couple years ago. Tuning is key.
