Alright guys, my starter works pretty good but it makes a bad noise. Sounds like gears stripping but i took the little cover off and they looke fine!?!? Any suggestions?

most likely your starter clutch.

You have to pull the fly wheel and it bolted on.

GDH should have some on ebay.

how can i tell if it is my starter clutch?

it will make a funny noise. Sometimes it's a high pitch noise other times it sounds like gears striping.

Its more f a moan...almost like it has a massive amount of resistance...but my battery did die down from it. So that could explain resistance. I guess its worth a shot, will i have to re time it or can i just put it back like it was?

I just remembered something...the big gear behind the clutch had play in and out, is that bad? and is the bolt that holds the flywheel reverse thread?

Got it off, i know the gear there is supposed to freewheel one way and lock up the other. Mine locks up sometimes, like its supposed to, but occaisionally slips or clicks past that, so would that be my problem? Just get a new clutch?

sounds like it. They are not that bad to put on. Should take care of the problem.
