Sorry for all the questions but I havent had a 250R in 10 years; still refreshing my memory.

So I pulled the carb off to make sure it was clean and re-jet it. It is the stock PJ 34MM; to my surprise I pulled off the bowl and it has a 178 main and 60 pilot jet; Now the quad has a 19CC Dome on C-12, FMF pipe and silencer, and porting, but still that seems like some serious jetting. It was in Las Vegas at 2,000Ft and I am at sea level. So, I need to jet it even fatter? Like a 182 or 185 main and like a 62 or 65 pilot? That seems excessive. Lastly the quad had a B8EG for a plug in it. I always ran a B9ES in my 1986; I think I am going to try the colder plug and see how it runs with the jetting it has now. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

for being at sea level you need to richen up the jetting

But don't you think that jetting seems extremely rich already for a lightly modded 250r motor?

It does seem strange to me, im running a 178 in my 310, now i am 1,400 feet up though. What does your plug look like??? Does it run out smooth?

Well this weekend I took the carb completely apart and the need clip was alway the way on the top setting maybe that is why the guy had the jetting so fat to try to make up for the lean mid range. I put that in the middle clip put a 185 main and a 60 pilot; remember iam at sea level and it was 30 degrees out, I took it for a run run down the road and it ran like a beast pulling the tires of the ground easily at half throttle in every gear when it hit the powerband. It starts first kick every time.

I am not gonna ride it till all the snow melts and my buddies construction yards dries up so I can get the jetting dialed in good for the spring and summer. Figure I will leave it alone till then I still gotta save up for tires and rims; don't wanna damage the original rims and ohutso tires. :D
