Was getting ready to order new front and rear fenders. Noticed that the pricing on the 2008 was significantly lower than for 2006.

Are they interchangeable? Is there something about the 2008 gas tank and plastic that make them different?

I know I've swapped the rear plastic between my wife's 2008 and my 2006 but maybe it wasn't as a clean a fit as it should be.

Any help is appreciated!

2008 is when they changed to a smaller tank, and added the tank cover.

440ex. ehhh!!

what about the fronts though? the red front plastics and hood on my 05 don't fit as well as i think they should, and since i have the 06+ hood on it, does that mean that the front plastics have to be off a 06+?

does it cause a difference in fitment or dimensions of the fender plastics?

I've noticed every year from 2006 on has different part # for the plastic and the pricing is not consistent.

I think I will opt for all 2007 plastic to be safe but the 2008 plastic can be had for $30 less.

That I'm not sure of. Everyone I know has swapped out for a bigger tank on their 08+.

How much do you guys pay for the front and rear fenders ? I checked service Honda and there is no price difference in 06 and 08 fenders.

Steeve, at my local dealer for the 2007 plastic it costs $444. For the 2006 and 2008 it costs $404

last year when i bought then the 2007 was the cheapest, the prices must have changed!:huh

I just checked yesterday and there was a difference for every year on Service Honda (2008 being the cheapest followed by 2009, 2007, and 2006 respectively)

Found babbittsonline.com to be the cheapest. $113 for a 2008 rear or $118 for a 2007. Fronts are $70 each.

Shipping is what is out of this world. It costs as much to ship a set of fenders as you pay to have a whole quad shipped to a dealer.

For what model? I don't see those prices listed. Don't you need radiator scoops and fenders.

Quad2.... does your local dealer price match?? It wont hurt to ask, not every time you buy but now and then go in and ask them to give you a price, and then tell them you can get it for the online list price, see what they say,

if they ask what price after the shipping, tell them that you have it delivered to your work for the corporate rate, which is usually much cheaper then residential,

Funny, I've been shopping RM for more years than I can remember...never noticed that OEM button.

I checked and confirmed that their free shipping for ordering more than $100 in goods includes fenders. If Babbitt can't ship for the $18 like they quoted for 2 rear fenders and a set of front fenders, I will save quite a bit going through RM.

Right after I posted the other night I found babbits online too.

Keep us updated on the shipping cost, hopefully they dont boost the shipping cost.

In the end, Babbitts had lower fender pricing but increased shipping another $83 so shipping was $100 on 2 rear fenders and 2 front fenders.

RM has higher prices on the fenders but free shipping. In total, Rocky Mountain was $35.86 cheaper than Babbitts.

Service Honda wanted $300 for shipping so they were way higher. In fact, they were higher than my local dealer who was only 62.47 higher than Babbitts in total (my dealer has to charge 7.5% tax which is big part of that difference).

I went with Babbitts because they were ready to ship. RM had a 5-7 day backorder status.

When having it shipped, make sure you select a commercial address and it lowers the cost of shipping versus residential delivery.

Keep this in mind also, RMATV usually has a 10% off if you purchase from them often. I applied that 10% off when I ordered my plastic also.

but I would still rather use my local shop, I use them enough that I can price match from any site,

I find the parts the cheapest i can, and make my list with numbers and price and they order,if the numbers are wrong its my fault cause they just copy and order,

they dont even double check my price ,lol, plus they will do things like honing cylinders and small things that I dont have the tools to do for free...

it really is worth supporting your local business they will support you if you are a good customer,Ive been going to the same place for years, and they make it worth going back .. in return I run there stickers and bring them business without being officially sponsored

I agree if my local shop supported me. Hell, they don't support the dirt bike guys either. There is a reason why they got the famous name of,"stealer ship" around here.lol

FedEx called to tell me they have my fenders and will deliver tomorrow. 6 business days to get them. They are actually in Durham and I could have gone to pick them up today.
