Well it feels a little like Christmas for me today, and I'm liking it!

Today I scored on a Clarke 5.5 gal. fuel tank from ebay for $62 and change, (+ $20 Shipping !!!). Y E S ! ! ! WOO-HOO ! ! !

I've been wanting one of these since I first got my quad, but I just could not justify the $218+shipping price.

So that means now I should have about 180-200 mile range on one tank, or even more importantly, if my kids bikes run low on fuel while on a ride, I can easily transfer some fuel to their quads and keep on riding !

I doubt that I'll completely fill it for most of my riding,... BUT knowing that I have that option will certainly be nice!. Especially at $82 delivered to my door !

I've always liked the appearance and fit of the Clarke tanks far more than the IMS tanks.

Yea for me !

Be careful. If it's the one I'm thinking of, it will bust your balls if you snag a tree LOL.

Fair enough, I'll heed the warning.

I promise and solemnly swear, to not run into any of the trees out in our deserts.

I'm pretty sure there's at least one out there SOMEWHERE,.... I just haven't been able to find it yet !

and besides, If I know "Califor-nature-sierra-clubia" very well,
That damn tree is protected with full military installments.

(of course, we would never think of providing our BORDERS with the same protections, now WOULD we???)
OHhhhh HELL ! ,... don't get me going, I'll never stop. Hahaha.

That was a great day, and a great ride... butI will admit, it wore my butt OUT !

The IMS hurts, AND its ugly. There's no way those "wings" on the front of it can hold enough fuel to be worth it. The only reason I still have mine, is that I have to reshape any tanks I use on my hyrid, and I already did this one.

The IMS tank is the one that is a ball catcher. I had that on my quad and after about 3 rides I sold it lol

just hope yours doesnt do like mine did. I got mine from a seller off ebay, paid like 170-something I think, the tank was brand new, still in the plastic, but after like a couple rides it started leaking gas around the brass insert here, I had it bolted down here and had to do some triming on the plastics to make it bolt up. im guessing that when it was bolted down tight it the plastic moved and flexed it made the brass insert break loose and started leaking. I wouldnt bolt your fenders down there in those two spots for a little while just to be safe with it. Im using the stock tank now but I really want to use my clarke. I still havent found a permant fix for it yet,

I had the clarke on the ex I sold. Really cool piece. Made the look of the bike to me.

Hey smelly. How does the petcock on the clarke work? does it hookup to the oem? Also, how do the front side "wings" attach at the tank? Ive been looking at the clarke but didt know how they would install and look. Yours looks good. Please post pics of the other side and petcock if you can.

I think it's the OEM petcock.

The front plastics lock into the tank with little "L" shaped tabs that push in, then slide into place. They are the stock tabs on the stock front plastics. They just put the OEM "female" receivers on the tank, if that makes sense.

I have one and we do most of our riding in the mountains of East Tenn. ,West Virginia and Ky. Also have a Six-pack rack to.carry another gallon. Longest ride was 183 miles and 21 hours. Its good insurance that gas won't be a issue.

Thanks smelly. That makes sense. Looks like ill be trying to find a clarke now. Looking at a bare tank in a picture makes you wonder how it will line up and attach. Now to see if my "L" tabs are intact. Not going to buy a tank if the fronts are going to be flapping in the wind.
