I am replacing my cam chain with the CRF 450 Chain

Couple of questions:

1). Where is the best place to buy new guides?
2). Do I need CFR Guides or 400EX Guides?

Thanks

400ex stock guides are fine.

Service Honda is definitely going to be the cheapest. You usually pay around $10 for shipping, but it's still going to be cheaper than buying from the dealer.

I just ran the part numbers for you, and crap these are pretty expensive if you buy from the dealer.

Here's the part numbers and prices for the two guides from Service Honda:

14511-KCY-670
TENSIONER, CAM CHAIN ($72 list price) ($54.25 your price)

14620-KCY-670
GUIDE, CAM CHAIN ($33.62 list price) ($25.33 your price)

Parts #8 and #4 in this microfiche diagram if you want to take a look for yourself: http://www.ronniesmailorder.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=166181&category=ATVs&make=HONDA&year=2001&fveh=3829

FYI: your gonna need a clutch basket holding tool, rocky mtn has a tusk one for 15 bucks thats really nice. Also an impact to remove the staked nut would be good as well.

Thanks for the info everyone, I was able to use an impact for the clutch and had a helper, I will try service Honda.

It holds the basket so you can remove/put on the staked nut.

Do you really need it? Depends, could stuff rags all around the clutch basket and hope for the best, could try holding it with other stuff. But for 15 bucks I think Ill use the tool.

My clutch is apart right now, but all the plates are in the same order. does it matter if the plates spun a little?
