Looking at a Renthal R3 O-ring chain, Alot of people tell me there the best to run. How about you guys?
Im in desperate need for a new chain and sprockets. Im thinking about goin with a 15T and 37T. I believe the stock is 15T and 38T.
What would you go with for running XC?
Also who makes a good case saver?

Riding XC you want low to mid range torque. changing to a higher gear ratio would be counter-productive.
Ebay and Rocky mountain can often be your best sources for parts.

I like steel sprockets, they last longer and hold up better. I also prefer X-ring chains as they are usually stronger and last longer as well.

motosport.com sells and entire package with sprockets (front/back) and chainf or about 120 or so.

I recently bought a 15/38 JT sprocket set and did x-ring chain.

FYI: if you have never changed the chain the stock one must be broken using a tool or cut off. You then need to size the new chain to 94 links, put it all together and put the master link on. its a rather simple job, you have any questions just ask.

So what would be a good combination for the sprocketd if I was to ride XC?
And also, the chain must have a master link. I dont want the any where u have to rivet them.
I cant find a renthal R3 chain in 100 links. only 120 lol..

I have discovered that buying a high end chain is not really worth the money. Because when your sprocket is worn out it’s time for a new chain anyway. So buying a chain that will out last the sprocket is a waste of money. jmo

renthals just a name man, its not the best..just a name. Everyone I know swears by did x-ring chains for woods riding. they are sealed with o-rings on both sides of the chain and seal out dirt well.

I would recommend 2 choices for gearing:
1. 14/38. This will give you much more torque down low-it will also mean you run out of gearing faster. Whatever gear you normally ride in, expect to be in the next highest gear cause you ran out of juice.

2. 15/39, slightly less bottom end torque gain but more usable. This is what I would recommend.

Remember, sprockets are rather cheap and easy to change so you you can try out different sizes rather cheaply.

Ok thanks!
And the stock chain is how long? 94 right.
Cuz on Rocky Mountain I can order a chain in either 94 or 96. Can I go with the 96 and be able to tighten it up enough and be ok? or just buy the 94??? Thank yah

94 is stock length. I doubt you will be able to get it to tighten with 96.

what size rear tires you running? That also changes gearing a little too!
