I have searched, must say the search suks on here.. None the less, I feel there is more left in this thing.. I am running a 48 pilot, 185 main, the a/f screw is about 2 turns out.. Just seems that it still wants to lug while in gear.. Idle it's pretty snappy, but when in a gear it is some to be desired.. Not sure if it is due to me dropping teWth off the rear or what.. I have the crab apart, am looking at the stock needle swinging on the float.. where in thee hell is the adjustment for it at?where do you think it should be set at?? I have yet to see any clip or anything like that.. I know the chit is on here about it but after a few searches and not finding it, I am starting to get a bit frustrated lol Thanks

Are you sure it's the stock needle? Should have 5 slots and a c clip. I've got mine on the third slot (middle one).

After looking at it, it appears it might be aftermarket.. I bought the carb used, it was off a mx 450r so Iam not sure.. But somebody has def been in here before.. what do you think of the needle..

John, That's the needle for the float and it looks stock. It has no adjustability. The needle most people are adjusting is under the top plate. It's kind of difficult to get to and the screws strip very easy, so be careful taking them out. That needle has 5 slots for adjustment. Stock position is the 3rd from the top or center position. The best advice is go to the sticky for 450R carbs in the 400EX forum. VRpilot did a great write up on that carb. And he explains the needle adjustment very well! Hope this helps!
